Offshore Support

The Port of Heysham is home to one of Europe's major offshore supply bases, providing logistics support to one of the largest gas fields in UK waters.

Dedicated to Hydrocarbon Resource Limited and managed by Petersen SBS, the base serves the East Irish Sea oil and gas fields. Heysham offers 24 hour access to supply ships and standby safety vessels and has the ability to respond to all requirements by sea, road and air.

Located on the north side of the harbour, on more than 20 acres with a 150 metre long exclusive quay, the supply base includes 5,100 square metres of modern warehousing, cement, barite and bentonite silos, bunkering, cranage, workshops, storage compound and helipad, overseen by a contemporary management and administration centre.

Among the major names in the offshore oil and gas industry to use Heysham: Esso, Conoco, Fina, Kelt, BP, Hamilton Brothers, Marathon, Elf, Ranger, Global Marine, BHPP and Burlington.

Adjoining the British Gas compound is a general port area with a quay of some 150 metres and extensive apron area.
