General Cargo

A diverse range of general cargo is handled on Heysham's 450 metre long South Quay using a variety of cranes and forklifts.

Heysham is served by a rail link running right to a quayside. Increasing volumes of both commercial vehicles and new trade cars moving through the Port are accommodated on quality marshalling areas which have been increased to 950 spaces for trailers and 550 for cars.

The 170 metre West Quay offers additional capacity for new port users.

Fish Quay – 100 metres long – has previously been used for handling aggregates for the construction industry and is currently available for similar operations or for land based storage. The terminal consists of a ship discharge system transferring to stockpile via a hopper and conveyors. A weighbridge is also located on the site.
